It is all about them....

We teach people how to increase the ROI on every conversation and presentation, which sounds like we are focusing on what is in it for our clients. The irony is they increase the ROI when they stop thinking about themselves and instead think about their audience.

For today's #wednesdaywisdom, I want you to learn that if you truly want to have success in communication, and business for that matter, you have to focus on what is in it for your audience and clients and not just what is in it for you. Move from WIFM to WIFT.

When we teach the #connectiontraingle, we are intentional about putting the audience at the top. They have to be top of mind in every conversation and presentation because communication will not happen without them.

This is why it is imperative that you take the the time to do your homework, to research your audience. it does not matter if your audience is a single person or 500 people, you still need to do some research. Who are they? Why are they going to be present for your conversation or presentation? What are they hoping to get out of being there? What is important to them? etc.

By taking the time to learn about your audience, no matter what you can learn, the better able to complete the connection triangle you will be. You will be able to connect with the audience more and build rapport easier, and you will be able to help them connect with your message easier because you know who they are and what they want and need.

Knowing the ROI you want from a conversation and presentation is the starting point, but knowing what is in it for the audience as well will go a long way to successful communication.
